Warbird Weekend 2011

Warbird weekend 2011 is over and again i am sure the pilots and spectators are left with great memories and inspiration for the upcoming winter. Unfortunately we suffered from serious bad weather forcast this year. We even had mind to move the event two weeks later, but we decided to go for it. As usual the weather in Udduvoll is far better than the so called experts forecasts us. This resulted in days of great flying conditions.

Some people showed up even thursday morning to at least get some of the nice weather. We flew in super conditions thursday and friday with warm summer weather and clear skies. Woke up saturday to some rain, but at 11am it was all over and the fun could continue. At midnight saturday we had almost 20 degrees! The atmosphere in pilots lounge could not get any better.

Well, the bad came, on sunday, but no one was to sad about that after 3 great days of flying with no serious accidents. Great job everybody. Was some dare devils frying in the wind in the morning while the rest of us ate waffles and talked about flying of course. Time to say good bye mid day sunday and look forward for next year.

Highlights of the event for me was several formation flight with up to 5 aircraft flying tighter than ever, round after round. Also very happy to see Kenneth Wikerøy from Kongsberg really showing off with amazing flying skills and two very detailed aircrafts. Easy to see that he had a great progressive season in 2011. Great job! Least but not last it was a pleasure have Bjørn Skjærvolds turbo prop driven Tucano flying over Udduvoll this year. It caused a lot of fuzz by spectators as this power system is still pretty rare.

A big thanks to everybody involved making WBW2011 possible. Happy to understand that we even had spectators from Autralia. Big thanks to all the pilots driving far to see us. Great to meet the swedes again :) Happy landing everybody.
