TopFlite P-47D Razorback building
Follow the building and hopefully flying of this TopFlite kit here at scalewarbird.org. Pictures and comments of the building process is seen in a web picture gallery.
The kit was acquired autumn 2003 at CyFair hobbies in Houston, TX. This kit is very reasonable priced in the US at $149,- I chose this kit for its good reputation in flying characteristics and ease of the building process. It is my first real scale building project so I figured i would start with something like this intead of the more hardcore Zirolli stuff.
Engine will be a Saito 1.50 four stroke turning an APC 16x6 prop with True Turn prop nut in the front. TopFlite optional drop tank and cockpit kit will be installed. It will have four Waypoint micro metall gear servos in the wing, two flro flaps and two for aileron. Drop tank, retracts and throttle will have a Hitec HS-81 sub mini and rudder, elevator will be operated using Hitec standard 322 Heavy Duty.
Cover material is Flair fiberglass 0.6oz/in2 and epoxy finishing resin, painted using polyeurethan or latex acryl paint in the olive 59th FG group standard scheme. I have not decided on the actual scheme yet, but little chief looks like a good candidate. I will need to source custom made decals or someone that can produce these in transparent waterslide.
